Sat. Feb. 4th—Hit The Snooze Button! For all our early morning dancers—sleep in & wear your PJs to class!

Mon. Feb. 6th—The Un-Bun! Here’s your chance to shake your hair loose—forget your bobby pins & hairnets at home & show us your craziest hair do!

Tues. Feb. 7th—Sparkle & Shine! If you’re gonna bring it, you might as well bling it—let’s see how much glitter we can cram into one dance studio!

Wed. Feb. 8th—Fabulous Feet! Wear your craziest tights/ leggings/socks to strut your stuff!

Thurs. Feb. 9th—Fun In The Sun! Wear your favourite beachwear as we dream about the snow melting!

Fri. Feb. 10th—Looney Lids! Wear your craziest hat or headgear!

How time flies – the competitive dance season is already just about to begin, can you believe it? This is always a busy time at On Stage – but we always try our best to keep you organized & informed! Competitive dance families, please be sure to check your email often & to download all the notes/documents that are being sent out. It’s a big job but SO worth it!

Welcome back to dance! We know you’re all excited to get back to dance in 2012 – can’t wait for our first classes to begin on Jan. 7th!We’ve been busy over the holiday break—always trying to improve the “On Stage Experience” for our dancers & their families! Some of the new things you’ll see up at the studio include:

Free wireless internet for dance families (just ask at the front desk for the password!)

Brand new amplifiers in the green room, so we can crank the music as loud as we want!

A new wireless music system for the purple room, to increase teacher productivity in class

New mirror curtains for all 3 rooms, to help us prepare for shows/exams without relying on the mirror

We’re also excited to have our first ever “spirit week”, planned to begin February 4th. We’ll beat the winter blahs & spice up our dance classes with fun themes! Check out the newsletter for more details.

The FRESH Dance Intensive will be back at On Stage for it’s 5th anniversary Stratford workshop! Hard to believe David Norsworthy & his talented faculty from across North America has been passing on their knowledge & skill to On Stage dancers for 5 years…must be the energetic, eager dance students that keep them coming back. There will be classes in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, jumps/turns, and more – all that you need to become a well-rounded dancer!

Wow – time sure flies when you’re having fun! Can you believe our 6th annual Holiday Dance Performance is just ONE WEEK away?!? The dancers are all ready & rarin’ to get on that stage – and we hope you’ll join us in the audience for a show that will inspire & fill you with the holiday spirit!

For those participating, please be sure to double check your arrival time, changeroom assignments, costume/uniform, and hair & shoe details. Most importantly, don’t forget to relax, have fun, & enjoy your time performing. Word on the street is that a *very* special guest may be in attendance…checking to see which dancers are on the “nice” list this year I wonder if Santa has been practicing any dance moves of his own?

 

Congrats are going out to our Community Performance Company this week – they have earned it! In our inaugural season, we’ve already performed at the Festival Marketplace Volunteer Match event (drumming up support for great local associations) as well as brightened up the season dancing in the Stratford Santa Claus Parade. Despite cold & rainy temperatures, the dancers all kept smilin’ & dancin’, making sure that the crowd was entertained by their moves! In the new year, we have already been invited to dance at Greenwood Residence, Winterfest 2012, and the Alzheimers Run For Memories – what a great response! Our dancers are up for the challenge and happy to perform for our local community.

On Stage’s Community Performance Company (CPC for short) is the first & only dance performance group in Stratford open to any dancer, any age, any ability. From young to old, experienced or not, we all can come together to share in the joy of dance. What’s best of all, is we harness this passion for performance and take it out into the community – entertaining, inspiring, & bringing smiles wherever we go!
