Julia Hopkinson (she/her)

Camp Instructor

Julia is thrilled to be back on staff at On Stage this season! On Stage is a home away from home: Julia grew up dancing here and the OSD family is very dear to her heart. She began dancing at the age of 5, training and competing in tap, jazz, ballet, musical theatre, contemporary and hip hop. She has been dancing at On Stage since it first opened, and this was also where she first began teaching; first as an assistant teacher at 14, transitioning into a substitute role before coordinating birthday parties, taking over the Community Performance Company and becoming an instructor and choreographer at 18 (2012). She has taught classes and choreographed routines for recital and competition in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre and lyrical; she also trained as a junior instructor with the Society of Russian Ballet to teach the primary exam class. She worked as an instructor and choreographer at Dance Extreme Studio in London for 4 years as well. Julia enjoys expanding her boundaries as a dancer and instructor by taking classes and workshops.
Outside of On Stage, Julia is a full time teacher with the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board. She currently teaches grade 3 at Jeanne Sauvé School. She also coaches a competitive volleyball team and coordinates the houseleague program with the Stratford Volleyball Club. Julia lives in Stratford with her husband Jesse and her 9 month old son, Augustus. She has been a supply instructor for the past two years while focusing on her teaching career, but being back on staff part-time and having the opportunity to share her love of dance with the wonderful kids at On Stage is simply the best!
